Meet the Founder
Sally Reddy
Sally Reddy didn’t set out to become a tax lawyer. She discovered her passion through the simple act of helping people understand their returns.
After law school, she volunteered at a military VITA clinic, where she would turn completed tax returns upside down and walk taxpayers through every line. She explained where each number came from and highlighted deductions they were missing. Most clients were astounded. No one had ever taken the time to truly educate them about their own finances.
For Sally, that experience was transformative. She realized that tax law wasn’t just about numbers and regulations. It was about empowering people to make informed decisions about their financial lives.
That passion led her to tax controversy work, where she saw business owners struggling to navigate audits and collection notices without clear guidance. As a military spouse, Sally brought a unique perspective to her practice. She understood government agencies from the inside.
She knew that most IRS agents and state tax employees were deeply passionate about their mission. That insight gave her an edge in negotiations, allowing her to work effectively with tax authorities to achieve the best outcomes for her clients.
When Sally founded Reddy Tax Law, it was about more than building a practice. She wanted the freedom to be selective about her clients and cases, to prioritize meaningful relationships over billable hours, and to design a practice that allowed her to care for herself and her family while serving her clients at the highest level.
Traditional law firms, with their emphasis on maximizing revenue, didn’t align with the needs of her ideal clients: budget-conscious small business owners who deserved efficient, excellent representation without the pressure tactics or inflated fees.
Sally is recognized as a leader in the tax law community: a San Diego Super Lawyer, a 2025 Leader of Influence in Law, and a finalist for Businesswoman of the Year. She is actively involved in the California Lawyers Association Women in Tax committee and the tax section of the San Diego County Bar Association. She’s a sought-after speaker, author, and educator. But at the heart of it all, she’s still that attorney who wants to sit down with business owners, explain what’s happening with their tax situation, and help them move forward with confidence and clarity.
